CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has designated the week of Oct. 14 as “College Application and Exploration Week” in an effort to help students prepare for college. More than 150 schools across the state will participate by hosting a variety of hands-on college planning activities including college application workshops, panel discussions with current college students, and college scavenger hunts and trivia contests.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin recognized the Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College student organization Students Taking Action in Nature’s Defense (S.T.A.N.D.) with a special certificate for their participation in the Governor’s Day to Serve.

Earl Ray Tomblin issued a proclamation on Thursday, Feb. 23, ordering all U.S. and state flags displayed at all state facilities be displayed at half-staff from dawn until dusk on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, the day of services for law enforcement officer, Sergeant Michael Todd May, who died in the line of duty on Feb. 18, 2012.
West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed two new members to the Fairmont State University Board of Governors. John D. Myers of Cheat Lake and Dixie L. Yann of Fairmont joined the Board of Governors for its Feb. 16 meeting.
