As the demand for highly trained professionals in every field increases, more and more students are choosing to pursue a master’s level degree. The degree, once considered primarily a stepping stone toward a doctorate, is becoming, for many, a terminal degree.

Fall 2011 Dean's List Announced

A total of 1,196 students were named to the Dean’s List at Fairmont State University after completing the fall 2011 semester. These students are being recognized for academic distinction by earning a 3.4 or better grade point average. Dr. Christina Lavorata, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has released the Dean’s List. Students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average also have been named to the President’s List.

Online Piano Pedagogy Continuing Education Course for Music Educators to be offered Spring 2012

Piano Pedagogy Online provides an introduction to a wide variety of teaching approaches and techniques for the instrument. The course also helps current piano teachers with self-assessment techniques and assists them in preparing for achieving national certification in piano through MTNA. Students in the course are required to have at least one private piano student OR one group keyboard class to videotape some lessons.
