Fighting Falcon fans in attendance for the 2014 Fairmont State football season opener against Notre Dame College on Thursday, Sept. 4, witnessed the dedication of the Harold S. “Deacon” Duvall statue that will be permanently displayed at Duvall-Rosier Field.
The Fairmont State Alumni Association is hosting a Game Day Tailgate on Saturday, Sept. 13, for Fighting Falcon fans attending the football game at Shepherd University.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. in Lot B at Shepherd University. Admission is $10 per person and includes a picnic lunch. Limited reserved parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Game tickets are available at the gate. Kickoff is at noon.
Fairmont State University and the Department of Athletics will honor legendary coach Harold “Deacon” Duvall on Thursday, Sept. 4, prior to the season opener against Notre Dame College.
Fans attending the game are advised to arrive a few minutes early to witness the unveiling of the Deacon Duvall statue that will be permanently displayed at Duvall-Rosier Field. The unveiling is planned for 6:50 p.m., and kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The Fairmont State football team will host Fan Appreciation Day during its first scrimmage of summer camp on Sunday, Aug. 17, at 3 p.m.
Fans will have the opportunity to get a first look at the Fairmont State football team during a scrimmage starting at 3 p.m. at Duvall-Rosier Field to wrap up the first week of summer camp. Following the scrimmage, FSU players will sign autographs for all fans.
The Falcons will return 14 starters, including nine on offense, and 34 letter winners when they take the field for the 2014 season.
Season ticket packages and VIP parking for the 2014 Fairmont State University football season are now available for purchase.
Several options are available, including the opportunity to purchase a piece of Fairmont State history.
The “Buy a Piece of History” option includes two reserved season tickets, a maroon lot parking pass and a piece of the Joe Retton Arena court and a piece of Joe Retton Arena bleacher for $450.
The Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons football locker room has received a much-needed facelift, and on Saturday, Oct. 13, the newly renovated Cava Family Football Locker Room was dedicated with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Our institution is strengthened by visionary donors, like the Cava family, who generously support our programs and enable a margin of excellence at Fairmont State,” said Dr. Maria Rose, FSU President.
Those who plan to tailgate and participate in activities on Saturday, Oct. 30, related to the Fighting Falcons football game against Seton Hill are encouraged to help Fairmont State University win a recycling challenge.
Fairmont State University and the Department of Athletics have announced plans for the 2010-2011 Community Engagement Initiative. The plan, titled "Put Your Best Fairmont Forward," is centered around FSU's nationally televised football game against West Liberty at 8 p.m. Sept. 30.
