2015 Mayfield Lecture to Feature Famous Architects

The Fairmont State University Architecture Program will present the Mayfield Lecture 2015, featuring a world-renowned team, Keith and Marie Zawistowski.

The event will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. following with the lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in Room 305 of the Engineering Technology Building on the main campus. The lecture topic will be Architectural Education & Practice in the Academy. The event is presented in partnership with American Institute of Architects West Virginia and is generously supported by the West Virginia Foundation for Architecture.

Mills Group Awards Scholarships to Two Architecture Students

Two Fairmont State University Architecture students have been awarded scholarships created by a local architect.

The Mills Group, an architecture firm based in Morgantown, developed two scholarship opportunities for aspiring architects by providing memberships to the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) program. The national organization is dedicated to inspiring, educating and providing networking opportunities for students interested in the building design profession.

FSU Partners with UT for Dark Skies Park in Calhoun County

Through a partnership with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Architecture students at Fairmont State University have the opportunity to help Calhoun County maximize a vital asset – darkness.

As part of an economic development research project for the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UT) conducted a case study of 10 counties in the Eastern United States. Among those was Calhoun County, W.Va. For the past two years, a team from UT has been meeting with stakeholders including the Calhoun County Commission and Town of Grantsville.
