Fairmont State University students, alumni and members of the community interested in employment are invited to attend the annual Job Fair hosted by the Career Development Center.

“The Job Fair draws a large crowd is a great way to connect with potential new hires,” said Amy Drvar, Director of Career Development. “Fairmont State prides itself on providing its students and graduates with the skills they need to succeed in the workplace.”

The Fairmont State University Reads program is preparing for its spring 2016 reading enrichment program.

The free program available to Marion County students in kindergarten through fourth grade will begin the week of Feb. 22. The after-school program will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays in Room 215 of the Turley Student Services Center on FSU’s main campus. The sessions will continue each week through April 18.

FSU Counts Offers Free Math Tutoring

The Fairmont State University Counts program is planning for its spring 2016 session to be held on the main campus in Fairmont. The free math tutoring program is offered to fourth- through eighth-graders who are experiencing math difficulties.

The program is supervised by Pam Kabulski and coordinated by Amy Drvar. The one hour/once a week sessions, which run for eight weeks, are offered Mondays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. or Wednesdays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. The program starts the week of Feb. 29 and runs through the week of April 25.

Student Volunteers Participate in Make Marion County Shine

More than 20 students and community volunteers participated in the Make Marion County Shine and state DEP cleanup on the Fairmont State University campus in Fairmont on Saturday, April 18.  The week also was National Volunteer Week. Organized by Stephanie Slaubaugh of the Physical Plant and Amy Drvar of the Office of Civic Engagement, the volunteers picked up 12 trash bags of litter in about two hours. The DEP Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP) donated trash bags, protective gloves and trash pickers for the volunteers.

FSU to Host Job Fair on Feb. 24

Fairmont State University students, alumni and members of the community interested in employment are invited to attend the annual Job Fair hosted by the Career Development Center.

More than 65 companies and agencies are registered to attend the event. The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Falcon Center, Gym 1. For those who are not current students, paid parking is available in the parking garage. Job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and to be prepared to discuss career opportunities with employers.
