The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and Masquers theatre group join the lineup of worldwide organizations that will present readings of Caridad Svich’s new play “Upon the Fragile Shore” on Monday, Nov. 17, as part of an “artivist” play reading and digital film action that explores human rights and environmental issues.
Fairmont State University’s Town and Gown Theatre is scheduling auditions for a reader’s theatre production of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Auditions will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 10 and 11, in Wallman Hall on the Fairmont State campus. The production will be performed on Dec. 5 through 14 on the FSU campus and other venues in the area.
The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and Town & Gown theatre group announce open auditions for “Sleepy Hollow,” an original musical written by Jim Christian and Tom Edward Clark. The story is inspired by “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the classic American short story written by Washington Irving. The production is directed by Francene Kirk; the music director is R.J. Nestor, and the choreographer is Susan Cato.

Tickets for “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” are $10 and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at (304) 367-4240. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. June 13, 14, 18, 19, 20 and 21 and at 2 p.m. June 15 at Wallman Hall Theatre on the FSU main campus.

A Fairmont State University student has been selected for an internship under the Disney College Program.
Erika A. Johnson, a junior at Fairmont State and a member of the Honors Program, is majoring in Theatre. The internship runs from Aug. 1, 2014, through Jan. 7, 2015. As part of the internship, Johnson will complete a three-credit class along with work in the Costuming Department.
Auditions for the Fairmont State University Town and Gown Summer Theatre production of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: The Broadway Musical” are planned for Wednesday, April 9, and Saturday, April 12.
To Theatre students, making sense of Shakespeare’s language can be a frightening, yet exciting challenge.
“I have been waiting for four years for this chance,” says senior Theatre major Tyler Kovar. The Marion County native, plays the iconic Puck, the master of mischief, in the Fairmont State University production of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on stage in April.
The Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts is now accepting enrollments for the Academy spring 2014 term, which will begin the week of Feb. 17.
