A total of 1,053 students were named to the Dean’s List at Fairmont State University after completing the spring 2013 semester.
Dr. Christina Lavorata, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has released the Dean’s List and the President’s List to recognize high-achieving students for their academic distinction. Full-time students who earned a 3.4 or better grade point average for the spring 2013 semester are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average are named to the President’s List.
The upcoming 150th anniversaries of West Virginia’s statehood and the Civil War were two reasons “Little Women” was selected as the next production of Fairmont State University’s Town & Gown Summer Theatre.
The musical will be presented on FSU’s campus in Wallman Hall at 7:30 p.m. June 6-8 and at 2 p.m. June 9. Reserve seats are available online at www.fairmontstate.edu/tickets or by calling the Box Office at (304) 367-4240; tickets are $13 each.

Fairmont State University’s Town & Gown Summer Theatre continues its longstanding tradition of musical productions when it presents “Little Women” and the world premiere of “Farmers Market the Musical” this summer.
Students and faculty from the School of Nursing and Allied Health Administration and the School of Fine Arts are collaborating on class activity that gives acting students and nursing students hands-on learning experience.
During the spring 2013 semester, about 85 Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) students in the “Nursing – Care of Adults I” class taught by Dr. Denice Kirchoff, Leia Bobo and Theresa Jones collaborated with students in Jeffrey Ingman’s acting class.
The Department of Music of the Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts will offer three concerts at the end of the spring 2013 semester.
On April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallman Hall Room 229, the FSU New Music Students Ensemble, as well as guest performers, directed by Dr. Daniel Eichenbaum, will perform original works composed during the spring semester. The concert will conclude with a new work written on newly designed instruments from the course.
The Fairmont State University Masquers theatre group and the School of Fine Arts will present the play “The Grouch” by Menander on the Wallman Hall stage.

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts Department of Music celebrates the spirit of musical connection with its Spring Music Gala at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, in Colebank Hall.
