Downtown Art Exhibit Explores Theme of Identity

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center is sponsoring a new art exhibit in downtown Fairmont exploring the common theme of identity.

The exhibit called “Identity Within and Without” will be on display throughout the month of September at the Joe-N-Throw Co-Op, 323 ½ Adams Street. The kickoff for the exhibit will take place on Friday, Sept. 5, as part of Main Street Fairmont’s First Friday. An opening reception is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Joe-N-Throw Co-Op.

Septemberfest Connects Community, Fun and Fashion

Connecting students, Fairmont State University alumni and the community, Septemberfest will offer vendors, music, family activities, a high-end fashion runway show and more in downtown Fairmont on Saturday, Sept. 20. Septemberfest is part of Family Weekend, planned for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 19 to 21. Main Street Fairmont Podcasts to Feature Fairmont State Alumni

Main Street Fairmont will be unveiling oral history podcasts on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at Gatherings, 216 Monroe St., Fairmont. These podcasts document what life was like in Fairmont during the early and mid-20th century. Many of the Fairmont stories are told by Fairmont State alumni. You will recognize some familiar names and faces.
