The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and the Department of Language and Literature present the American Shakespeare Center’s “Almost Blasphemy Tour” for a week of Elizabethan lyricism, love and oh-so-bitter woe. Three separate productions will take place in Wallman Hall Theatre — “The Winter’s Tale,” “ ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The ticket price for each performance is $10 per person. Fairmont State University Interim President Maria Rose greets Maj. Gen. James A. Hoyer, adjutant general for the West Virginia Army and Air National Guard, who visited Fairmont State University on Friday, Feb. 24, to tour the Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX).
This fall, Fairmont State University students had an opportunity to be the first student in recent history to have their artwork featured on the University president’s holiday card. Students were asked to submit a drawing, photograph or digital image that they created to appear on the card.
The Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia has named Dr. Gregory P. Noone of Fairmont State University as first runner-up for the 2011 Professor of the Year award. Each year the Foundation honors an outstanding faculty member at a West Virginia college or university.
About 250 students will participate in Winter Commencement for Fairmont State University at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Feaster Center. A reception in the Falcon Center will immediately follow the ceremony.

Dr. Elizabeth Savage, Professor English at FSU, and Debbie Benedetti, Associate Professor of English and Academic Studies at Pierpont, will read from their new works.
Fairmont State University formalized its relationship with Woosong University in Daejeon, South Korea, today, Dec. 2, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
A car loaded with presents arrived at HOPE, Inc. today, Dec. 2, thanks to the generosity of a network of women helping women. On Dec. 1 at the Shaw House on the main campus shared by Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College, FSU Interim President Maria Rose and Pierpont President Doreen Larson hosted a group of about 100 women for a Holiday Tea.
