Faculty Member Demonstrates Ceramic Art at Two Local High Schools

A Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts faculty member recently served as a visiting artist at two local high schools.

Art Department Coordinator Jeff Greenham demonstrated ceramic art at Lewis County High School and North Marion High School for more than 250 students.

Greenham discussed the importance of creativity in all fields, talking about the history of ceramics and his career in the arts. 

Ceramic Sculptural Exhibit on Display in Brooks Gallery

“Coalesence,” an exhibition of ceramic sculptural forms by Frederick Bartolovic and Michelle Strader, will be on display at Fairmont State University in January and February.

The exhibit will be open from Tuesday, Jan. 21, through Friday, Feb. 28, in the James David Brooks Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Wallman Hall. Gallery hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The Department of Art will host a public reception from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. Grant Helps School of Fine Arts Fund New Kilns for Ceramics Program

A grant from the George W. Bowers Family Charitable Trust will allow the Fairmont State University Department of Art to purchase modern and energy-efficient kilns for its growing Ceramics program.

The $16,000 grant, received by the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc. on behalf of the FSU School of Fine Arts, will assist with the replacement of the two primary kilns in the Department of Art’s popular Ceramics program. The grant was submitted by Peter Lach, Dean of the School of Fine Arts, and Jeff Greenham, Assistant Professor of Art.
