Author Geraldine Brooks to Speak April 3

The Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College brings nationally prominent speakers of diverse viewpoints to campus each fall and spring. “Year of Wonders” by Geraldine Brooks was the selected work for the campus-wide Common Reading Project for 2011-2012. In culmination of that project, Brooks will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Colebank Hall Gym as part of the lecture series.

 The Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College brings nationally prominent speakers of diverse viewpoints to campus each fall and spring. The series continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in Colebank Hall Gym with Liz Murray, whose life story was the subject of the Lifetime Television movie “From Homeless to Harvard.”

Montana Repertory Theatre to Present "Bus Stop" on April 2

The Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College continues Saturday, April 2, with the performance of the play “Bus Stop.”

In this warm and affecting hit comedy, William Inge examines some of the many faces of love. Sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, the performance will take place at 8 p.m. April 2 in Wallman Hall Theatre on the main campus in Fairmont. For tickets, call (304) 367-4240. Tickets are $10 for the general public and FSU and Pierpont faculty and staff and free for FSU and Pierpont students.
