Higher Education Day at the Legislature on March 21 was held at the State Capitol to recognize West Virginia’s higher education institutions and to provide information to potential students, policymakers and the general public regarding the postsecondary education opportunities available in West Virginia.
The West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America honored Fairmont State University with three awards at its 2012 Crystal Awards Gala, which acknowledges the best work of 2011.
During the event at Edgewood Country Club in Charleston, 16 Crystal Awards and 12 honorable mentions were presented for campaign work. Thirty-nine Crystal Awards and 24 honorable mentions were given for project work. A record number of entries were received for this year’s competition. At Fairmont State University, students are the first priority. A new campaign this fall with the theme “be First” helps share that message. The first campaign launch event took place Monday, Aug. 15, at the fall welcome meeting for faculty.
