A Fairmont State University School of Business student has been named one of the top three accounting students in the state by The West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
The West Virginia Alliance for Sustainable Families recently presented Fairmont State University with its Higher Education Partner of the Year Award to honor volunteer service by the FSU School of Business.

Fairmont State senior Leighla R. Philpott will have just that experience as she participates in The Washington Center’s summer program.

Nine students from Fairmont State University will travel to New York from May 13-19, 2012, with Dr. Julie Sellers for the very first immersion-style experience within the borders of the United States that the university has offered.

In his first night on the field as a starter for the Fighting Falcons, during the first game of the season on September 1st, 2011, Daniel Monroe III had 161 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns. He was named MVP by his coaches, player of the game by a local business and WVIAC Offensive Player of the Week. Those were his first athletic accomplishments on campus.
Our Accounting students, under the supervision of Dr. T. Jean Engebretson, are once again offering the popular IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) tax preparation services in Fairmont, Clarksburg, Parsons, Mannington, and other areas. The mission of the VITA Program is to provide free basic tax return preparation for eligible taxpayers. VITA provides students with hands-on learning of income tax preparation and it provides real life interaction with tax clients.
