Exhibit by Evan Boggess on Display through Nov. 8

"Pressure/ Heat/ Time,” an exhibition of paintings by Evan Boggess, will be on display at Fairmont State University in October and November.

The exhibit will be open from Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Nov. 8, in the James David Brooks Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Wallman Hall. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Admission is free and open to the public. The Department of Art will host a public reception from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Fairmont State University will recognize West Virginia Day to Serve through Saturday, Sept. 28, by asking faculty, staff and the greater community to “Fill the Nest!”

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center on the main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College is sponsoring a study and travel abroad program in the summer of 2013 called Roads to Appalachia through the Mezzogiorno, the land of “the midday sun” between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas.

Auditions Scheduled for "The Original and True Rocket Boys"

Actors, singers and dancers are sought for roles in the upcoming Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts production of “The Original and True Rocket Boys.”

Directed by Troy Snyder and R.J. Nestor, performances for “The Original and True Rocket Boys” are scheduled for Nov. 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22 and 23. Other performances will be offered for public school students.

Tobacco Free Falcons to Host Awareness Events

Funded by a grant from the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources Division of Tobacco Prevention, the group Tobacco Free Falcons has planned a variety of campus events to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco usage.

The Division of Tobacco Prevention began its Against Tobacco College Initiative in 2005 as way to reach 18 to 24 year olds regarding the dangers of tobacco use and the benefits of stopping tobacco use. College campuses from around the state were invited to participate.
