Love Your Melon Campus Crew Members Sought

Love Your Melon is an organization on campus that is an apparel brand nationwide on a mission to give every child battling cancer a hat. This organization has been on campus for about a semester and is seeking more crew members and volunteers to join this cause.

An informational meeting on campus is planned for 6 p.m. Jan. 25, 2016, in front of the Nickel on the second floor of the Falcon Center. Pizza will be offered, and there will be a short presentation.

Art Students Selected for Tamarack Foundation Show

A Fairmont State University Art student and two recent Art graduates have been selected to be part of the Tamarack Foundation show “Emerge,” featuring the artwork of 18 students and recent graduates from college and university art programs across the state of West Virginia.

Whether it’s on the field or in a parade, you can hear Will Johnston’s trumpet.

Johnston, who has played trumpet since fifth grade, now plays trumpet for both the Fairmont State University marching band and jazz band. On the field, he is assisted by Nicole Davis, a volunteer who does not receive class credit for her actions.

Born with osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone syndrome, Johnston uses a wheelchair.

But this hasn’t caused him to not dream big.

RESA 7 Science Bowl Dec. 10 on FSU Campus

The 2014 RESA 7 Science Bowl will take place on Thursday, Dec. 10, in the Engineering Technology Building on the main Fairmont State University campus. The competition is hosted and sponsored in collaboration with RESA 7; Fairmont State University; and the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory.

Competition begins at 9 a.m. with the final round to determine the winner starting at 2:30 p.m. in Room 303 of the Engineering Technology Building.

The West Virginia county is closer to maximizing a vital asset – darkness – through a partnership between Fairmont State University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with support from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

Fairmont State Foundation Names Director of Development

The Fairmont State Foundation has named Jessica Sell Director of Development. Sell comes to the Foundation after serving the last three years on the staff of Senator Joe Manchin following prior positions at non-profit TSEA, the University of California at Irvine and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. FaiHer appointment with the Foundation will begin in January of 2016.

Department of Music Presents Handel's "Messiah"

The Fairmont State University Department of Music will present Handel’s “Messiah” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in Colebank Hall on the FSU campus. A free pre-concert reception for ticketholders will start at 7 p.m.

“This is the first time our department will have an event like this showcasing our Bachelor of Science alumni,” said Ann Shaver, Professor of Psychology.
