The Office of International Student Services of Fairmont State University hosted a Welcome Reception for International Students on Thursday, Aug. 22.
As part of Homecoming 2013 for Fairmont State University, six exceptional alumni will be honored at the annual Alumni Awards Brunch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
Sponsored by Thrasher Engineering, the event will be held in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Visit www.fairmontstate.edu/homecoming to view a complete list of events and additional information.
Dr. Judy P. Byers, editor, and Patricia Musick, principle illustrator, were on hand to sign copies of the book, “Mountain Mother Goose: Child Lore of West Virginia”. Decades in the making, the book is based on the child lore collections of Dr. Walter Barnes and Dr. Ruth Ann Musick, both retired Fairmont State faculty members.
The Fairmont State Alumni Association is hosting welcome reception for Head Coach Jason Woodman as the Fighting Falcons prepare to kick off the 2013 football season.
Woodman and his staff will be available to meet and greet Falcon Fans during the event scheduled for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Erickson Alumni Center. Admission is free and open to the public. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be available.
The West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America honored Fairmont State University with five awards at its 2013 Crystal Awards Gala.
Frank Pulice, Jr. was presented with the first Fairmont State Alumni Association Lifetime Achievement Award on Saturday, May 11. The award was created to show appreciation for alumni who have dedicated years of service to the association and to the institution.
“Frank Pulice, Jr. has achieved great personal and professional success. As a philanthropist and community volunteer, he truly has made a difference. Mr. Pulice’s life exemplifies the type of achievement, leadership and service we wish for all Fairmont State alumni,” said FSU President Maria Rose.
As the semester winds down, the 2013-2014 Student Government is just getting started. The executive officers will be busy this summer preparing for a new year of Firsts.
The annual Women of Color Luncheon, a celebration of diversity and achievement, took place Tuesday, April 9.
Lockheed Martin was on campus April 3-4, 2013, to host a workshop offering practical advice and strategies for career development.
