Fairmont State University and the Department of Athletics will honor legendary coach Harold “Deacon” Duvall on Thursday, Sept. 4, prior to the season opener against Notre Dame College.
Fans attending the game are advised to arrive a few minutes early to witness the unveiling of the Deacon Duvall statue that will be permanently displayed at Duvall-Rosier Field. The unveiling is planned for 6:50 p.m., and kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The Fairmont State University Department of Music presented for its Spring Gala the cantata “Carmina Burana,” on Saturday, April 26. Performance included the Fairmont State Collegiate Singers, Community Chorus and Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Valarie Huffman. Also featured - the Chanticleer Children’s Chorus of West Virginia. The professional soloists for the concert were Mandy Spivak, tenor Alec Carlson and baritone Paul Kreider.

Dr. Robynn K. Shannon, who joined the Title III team in February 2014 as the STEM Learning Coordinator, enjoys a challenging puzzle.
“One thing I love about teaching and learning is the intellectual challenge of teaching itself: how to facilitate, enhance, inspire, motivate and model learning,” Shannon said. “For me, teaching—more specifically how to teach effectively—is like a brain-teaser puzzle, which is what makes it so interesting.”
