The Fairmont State University Masquers will perform Bertolt Brecht’s The Good Woman of Setzuan” for six performances in February and March. Performance dates and times are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 and 26, 2 p.m. Feb. 27 and 7:30 p.m. on March 10, 11 and 12 in the Wallman Hall Theatre on the FSU main campus. The Department of Music of the Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts will present a concert of classical and contemporary pieces, performed by guitarist Dieter Hennings on Saturday, Feb. 19. Admission to the concert, which will take place at 8 p.m. in Room 229 of Wallman Hall, on the university main campus, is free and open to the public.
The Instructor Exchange Ad-Hoc Committee of the Fairmont State University Faculty Senate is hosting a panel discussion on the topic “Unemployment” on Thursday, Feb. 17
Dr. Craig White will moderate an interdisciplinary panel discussion featuring Dr. Paul Edwards, Rev. Richard Bowyer, Dr. Sunil Surendran and Dr. Mohamad Khalil. The event, which is open to the public, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Light refreshments will be served. A “question-and-answer” session will take place during the last hour of the forum.
The Fairmont State University Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg will be one of 18 locations throughout the state to host the second annual College Goal SundaySM event on Sunday, Feb. 13, presented by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. Students and parents can receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) during the free workshops.
On Feb. 18 and 19, Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will host a Student Leadership Conference with the theme “Succeeding Against All Odds.”
Two upcoming performances of the play “Kindertransport,” one in Fairmont and one in Charleston, will help showcase the talent of Fairmont State University students to a statewide audience.
The Falcon Center will remain open until 7 p.m. today, Jan. 26, and will then close due to the weather conditions. The building will open at 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, weather permitting. The Dining Hall will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. today. The Nickel will close at 4 p.m. today. All other retail areas are now closed.
