 The Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College brings nationally prominent speakers of diverse viewpoints to campus each fall and spring. The series continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in Colebank Hall Gym with Liz Murray, whose life story was the subject of the Lifetime Television movie “From Homeless to Harvard.”

School of Business to Host Business Etiquette Dinner

To give students an opportunity to learn how to make a positive first impression, the School of Business is co-sponsoring a Business Etiquette Dinner on Wednesday, March 7, at the Robert H. Mollohan Research Center in the I-79 Technology Park in Fairmont.

Canstruction Competition Helps Fight Hunger

Fairmont State University’s American Institute of Architecture Students organization will be competing in the 2012 Canstruction competition in Charleston on Tuesday, March 6. While constructing an object made entirely out of cans is half the battle, the real focus of the event is battling hunger.

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College students, alumni and members of the community interested in employment are invited to attend the annual Job Fair hosted by the Office of Career Services. More than 70 companies and agencies are registered to attend the event. The fair will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the Falcon Center, Gym 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Presentation to Highlight "The Aubrey Stewart Project"

The Office of Student Affairs will present an event on the main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College in commemoration of Black History Month. Piedmont native T.J. Coleman has made it his mission to share the story of Sgt. James Aubrey Stewart and to use the experience to promote racial understanding. He will give a presentation, titled “The Aubrey Stewart Project: Unity Through One Race…The Human Race,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Multi-media Room A of the Ruth Ann Musick Library.
