Alumni and friends from around Maryland came out to support the Fighting Falcons as they took on Bowie State on Sept. 15th.
Fans of the Fighting Falcons are asked to bring non-perishable food items to the first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 22, to support a new campus food bank called The Nest. Community members who bring a food item will receive free admission to the game, courtesy of the FSU Department of Athletics.
The Nest is being created to assist students at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College.
The Fairmont State Athletic Association has announced this year’s Hall of Fame inductees. The Class of 2012 includes Martha Ganoe (volleyball) Kristen Gattuso (women’s basketball), Haywood Highsmith (men’s basketball), George Opron (baseball), John Feronti (swimming), Jarrod Furgason (football) and Bill Stewart (football).
The Hall of Fame inductees will be enshrined on Friday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Gym 1 of the Falcon Center. A social starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Falcon Center conference rooms will precede the banquet.
Fairmont State University will host the First Annual Rugby Day 2012 on Saturday, Aug. 25, for the Derek Hotsinpiller Heavenly Sevens Memorial Tournament.
In just a short amount of time, the way in which people watch their sports has changed with technology. Once upon a time, you had to settle for whatever was programmed on television. Then, a few select games were streamed online, although the quality wasn’t much better than the Zapruder film. Now, though, almost every professional game or major college sport is available on the web and delivered in a way that competes with the quality you get on your television. And Fairmont State is getting into the game, too.
The majority of Fairmont State University's student-athletes will spend their summer breaks doing the same thing – training and working hard to hone their respective skills in their chosen sport in preparation for next season.
When fans of Fighting Falcons football flock to Duvall-Rosier Field in the fall, they will be greeted by Fairmont State University’s new high technology scoreboard, made possible by a gift from BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company.

Fairmont State University's football team wrapped up the 2012 version of spring drills with the annual Maroon-White Spring Game Saturday, April 28 at Duvall-Rosier Field. Athletics details the action and has more photos online at fightingfalcons.com.
About 600 students will receive degrees during Spring Commencement for Fairmont State University at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, in the Feaster Center.
