Every Homecoming, the Fairmont State Alumni Association and Muriale’s Restaurant celebrate FSU’s athletic tradition with Falcon Fest. Each team and their coaches, along with intramural squads, are invited to come out and celebrate the week with their peers. It has become a tradition for the teams and something they look forward to every year.
The Fairmont State men's and women's basketball teams held its first-ever "Fan Fest" during Homecoming. Students and fans took their first look at the 2012-13 squads including previews from Coach Steve McDonald and Coach Jerrod Calhoun.
The night included a dunk contest, three-point shootout, mini-scrimmages, autograph sessions with players and coaches and a student/fan zombie contest.
Fairmont State gathered past athletes and friends to celebrate and induct The Class of 2012 into the Athletic Association’s Hall of Fame. Inductees included: Martha Ganoe (volleyball); Kristen Gattuso (women’s basketball); Haywood Highsmith (men’s basketball); George Opron (baseball); John Feronti (swimming); Jarrod Furgason (football); and Bill Stewart (football).

Fairmont State's Matt Wilmer hauled in a 19-yard touchdown pass from Bobby Vega to lift Fairmont State to a 54-47 win over Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon at Duvall-Rosier Field as Fairmont State celebrated Homecoming. During halftime, Rosemary Grimm and Maxx Myers were crowned King and Queen. Prior to the game, alumni, friends and students tailgated and joined in a variety of festivities.

The Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons football locker room has received a much-needed facelift, and on Saturday, Oct. 13, the newly renovated Cava Family Football Locker Room was dedicated with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Made possible by the support of James and Laura Cava and Dan and Machelle Cava, the Cava Family Locker Room has been transformed into a place where all players can comfortably meet and keep their belongings safe.
The traditional Homecoming Parade for Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College presented by Student Government will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in downtown Fairmont.
Line-up for the parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. at Everest Drive and Kirkway Drive below the Marion County Rescue Squad. The parade route will run up Fourth Street right onto Fairmont Avenue, which becomes Adams Street, and will pause in front of the Marion County Courthouse. The parade will end near Veterans’ Square.
Alumni and friends from around Maryland came out to support the Fighting Falcons as they took on Bowie State on Sept. 15th.
Fans of the Fighting Falcons are asked to bring non-perishable food items to the first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 22, to support a new campus food bank called The Nest. Community members who bring a food item will receive free admission to the game, courtesy of the FSU Department of Athletics.
The Nest is being created to assist students at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College.

The Hall of Fame inductees will be enshrined on Friday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Gym 1 of the Falcon Center. A social starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Falcon Center conference rooms will precede the banquet.
Fairmont State University will host the First Annual Rugby Day 2012 on Saturday, Aug. 25, for the Derek Hotsinpiller Heavenly Sevens Memorial Tournament.
