Governor Orders Flags Lowered in Honor of Law Enforcement Officer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin issued a proclamation on Thursday, Feb. 23, ordering all U.S. and state flags displayed at all state facilities be displayed at half-staff from dawn until dusk on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, the day of services for law enforcement officer, Sergeant Michael Todd May, who died in the line of duty on Feb. 18, 2012.

Attend the Job Fair on Feb. 28

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College students, alumni and members of the community interested in employment are invited to attend the annual Job Fair hosted by the Office of Career Services. More than 70 companies and agencies are registered to attend the event. The fair will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the Falcon Center, Gym 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Exhibition Focuses on Possible Effects of Marcellus Shale Industry

A new exhibit by an alumnus of Fairmont State University’s Studio Art program will focus on the possible effects of Marcellus Shale gas drilling. The first exhibition of 2012 will be the exhibition titled “A Penny for a Dime” by Miles Holbert. An opening reception is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the James D. Brooks Memorial Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Wallman Hall on the FSU main campus.
