A grant from Lockheed Martin Corporation, IS&GS National will support Fairmont State University’s Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX), which is the laboratory and applied research component of the National Security and Intelligence (NSI) program.
Fairmont State University Accounting students are providing free income tax preparation assistance in three counties and receiving real-life experience to benefit them in their future careers.
The Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia has named Dr. Gregory P. Noone of Fairmont State University as one of five finalists for the 2012 Professor of the Year award. Each year the Foundation honors an outstanding faculty member at a West Virginia college or university.

Eleven Fairmont State University graduate students aided residents of Ritchie County in developing sustainable, healthy community activities, through a project funded by West Virginia Campus Compact. Now that project has the attention of the National Institutes of Health.
The Outdoor Recreation Leadership program, Outdoor Adventure Club and Wisp Resort are collaborating to provide students at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College an opportunity to learn how to downhill ski or snowboard.
The Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg will be one of 23 locations throughout the state to host the annual College Goal SundaySM event on Sunday, Feb. 10, presented by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Students and parents can receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) during the free workshops.
A total of 1,060 students were named to the Dean’s List at Fairmont State University after completing the fall 2012 semester.
Dr. Christina Lavorata, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has released the Dean’s List.
These full-time students are being recognized for academic distinction by earning a 3.4 or better grade point average for the fall 2012 semester. Full-time students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average have been named to the President’s List.

The Office of International Student Services will host a Welcome Reception for International Students attending Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College on Thursday, Jan. 17.
The event will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Admission is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Nineteen Fairmont State University students will witness an important moment in American history by participating in a 10-day academic seminar in Washington, D.C., focusing on the U.S. Presidential Inauguration.
About 250 students participated in Winter Commencement for Fairmont State University at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the Feaster Center.
