Fairmont State University Math Department faculty members, along with four FSU pre-service mathematics teachers, attended the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Conference on March 11-12 at Stonewall Jackson Resort. The two-day conference focuses on learning from other mathematics teachers in West Virginia about ways to improve mathematics instruction.

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts, in partnership with the West Virginia University School of Art and Design, will host its annual Iron Pour, “Sputnik’s Landing,” on Friday, April 8.

The event, which is open to the public, will take place at noon April 8 behind Duvall-Rosier field on the FSU campus.

The Frank & Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center at Fairmont State University will host a special talk by a guest lecturer from Ireland at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3.   

John Gillis, Senior Conservator at Trinity College Library, Dublin, will speak on “Treasure from the Bog,” the story of the Faddan More Psalter, an 8th-century manuscript unearthed from a peat bog. A reception will follow the lecture. Admission is free and open to the public.

In collaboration with the Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and the Fairmont Community Development Partnership’s Business Excelerator, FSU Gallery Management students present an exhibition titled “Fantastical Imagery” at Gallery 517, 517 Fairmont Ave.

FSU Gallery Management students Lila Rocovich, Loraine Smith and Sofia Graziano have curated the new show curating work that focuses on exaggerating the elements of art and design by students and alumni.
