For students of all ages deciding where to continue their education, Campus Visitation Day on Saturday, March 26, offers an exciting opportunity to experience campus life at Fairmont State University.

“FSU’s modern facilities, student-centered focus, high achieving athletic teams, unique program offerings and many other factors make FSU a first choice for many students,” said Lori Schoonmaker, Interim Associate Director of Recruiting. “Because of the investment in FSU by the state and donors, the university offers high quality academic programs at a cost that makes FSU an affordable choice. In a recent student satisfaction study, FSU compared very favorably to other national four-year public institutions.”

Information about Pierpont Community & Technical College will also be available. FSU and Pierpont share a main campus in Fairmont.

With an enrollment of more than 4,700, FSU offers more than 90 baccalaureate degrees, as well as graduate programs in business, criminal justice and education. FSU offers nationally accredited programs in high-demand fields such as teacher preparation, nursing and engineering technology. Unique programs include those in national security and intelligence and aviation. FSU has an alumni network of more than 28,000 and has a strong track record of placing alumni in graduate and professional programs.

The event on the main campus will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26, with registration in the Falcon Center, and, depending on which sessions each student opts to attend, most attendees can expect to finish with activities on the main campus by 3 p.m. The Enrollment Services Office will be open from noon to 3:30 p.m. to allow students to apply or to check on the status of their admission.

Dr. Thomas Krepel, FSU President, will offer a welcome for campus visitors. Those attending also will have the opportunity to visit with faculty representatives from each academic program and receive information on admissions, housing, student life and financial aid. The FSU Athletic Department will have representatives on hand during the academic fair to answer questions and provide an overview of their NCAA Division II men’s and women’s programs. Tours of campus, including the residence halls, will be available throughout the afternoon; lunch will be provided free of charge for each guest.

Special sessions will be offered on the Honors Program and for veterans. A special track within Campus Visitation Day will be offered for adult students (those 25 and older).

In the afternoon, participants may opt to tour two off campus sites in Harrison County: the Gaston Caperton Center, 501 West Main St., Clarksburg, or the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center at the North Central West Virginia Airport.
