Foundation Scholarships

At least 2nd year student; preference to members of AAUW Fairmont Branch Student Affiliate if organization active on campus; Financial Aid may be considered; WV resident; GPA of 2.75 for initial or renewal; Available to 4 year, 2 year, or master degree.
ANA-Tulasi & Marilyn Joshi Scholarship
Be of Nepalese origin; 500 word essay on goals and expectations; provide official/attested copies of SAT or ACT and TOEFL scores. The TOEFL score must be at least PB 550, CB 213, IB 79 or IELTS score at least 6.5; provide official English translation of HS or college transcripts; provide official/attested copies of all academic credentials; provide two letters of recommendation; provide a brief resume; provide proof of financial support.
Andee Pollastrini Scholarship
Non-traditional Nursing student in either the 2 or 4 year program; may be renewable; family request that the recipient be informed of the origin of the scholarship, and that the recipient tell Andee’s story to the class so more people will know about domestic violence.

Beatrice Trotto Endowed Scholarship
East Fairmont HS graduate with a high school 2.0 GPA; financial need.
Benjamin Harrison and Kathryn Guthrie Ice Scholarship
Preference will be given to students from Mannington, WV district; financial need is required; no student who participates in any unlawful activity against FSU or any other school of higher learning will be eligible; renewable up to eight semesters.
Betty Jo Wright (class of 1941) Social Work Scholarship

TBI Turley-Wallman Endowed Scholarship*
Member of TBI fraternity; eligibility will also be extended to the Tau Beta Iota Alumni and their immediate families. Members of TBI’s. Immediate Family is defined as a parent, brother, sister, child, or grand-child of any member of TBI Fraternity. If no qualified applicants in any academic year, no disbursement will be made; must maintain a 3.0 overall average and be making normal progress toward a normal 4 or 2 year degree completion and considered a full time student; good moral character; demonstrated willingness to serve the college and the local community; participation in functions and activities of TBI fraternity; participation in extracurricular activities.

Financial need is required to register in graduate program in teacher ed with the intention of teaching at the middle or high school level; minimum GPA of 3.0; preference to Marion County, WV students then to other WV students.

The Ernest W. Frye Outstanding Student in Computer Science Award
Outstanding junior or senior student majoring in computer science; non-renewable; Computer Science Faculty has the right to split the award between two qualified students.

The Haddon and Nettie Morgan Rhodes Endowed Scholarship
Freshman student(s) recipient must declare themselves as Elementary or Secondary Education majors and complete the necessary coursework to be accepted in the Elementary Education Program at FSU as sophomores; recipient must have a minimum ACT score of 21 or a SAT equivalent of 990; preference to West Virginia high school graduate; High school 3.0 GPA or better; must maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA as a freshman and a 3.0 or better GPA thereafter ACT 21 or SAT 990; renewable; financial need may be considered.
The Heaney Family Descendants Endowed Scholarship
Must be pursuing a baccalaureate (four year) degree; must not be able to qualify for any form of federal or state financial aid and should be classified as “middle class” under federal guidelines; must not be receiving any other additional aid or support from Foundation; full time with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
The Meredith Family Scholarship
Two graduates of Monongah Middle School/North Marion HS, or two graduates of Preston HS who are a residents of the Valley District; financial need; not receiving any other scholarship from the Foundation; full-time student; renewable for eight continuous semesters.
The PEO Endowed Scholarship*
Financial need; Non-traditional student with a preference to a Marion County resident; the award, if from time to time deemed appropriate by the PEO Sisterhood Scholarship Committee, may be given throughout their college career; students entering college for first time or re-entering college after a time away need not have minimum GPA. For returning students the minimum GPA is 3.2.
The Victor and Mary Carr Rancinger Endowed Scholarship
Full-time student; Elementary education major; financial need; qualification or disqualification for federal financial aid shall not affect applicants for this scholarship; preference to students who are West Virginia residents.
The Walter F. Phillips, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
Engineering student; overall 3.0 GPA.
The William C. Ruoff Outstanding Senior Chemistry Award
Graduating senior majoring in chemistry; Chemistry faculty will select a student, or students, for this award.
Timothy Cook Memorial Athletic Endowed Scholarship
Student athletic trainer; full-time.
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US Post 629 Endowed Scholarship*
Financial need; recipient must not be receiving any other scholarship or aid from the Foundation; Incoming freshman; full-time student; must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA for renewal; WV high school graduate with 2.0 GPA or combat veteran with GED; priority: (1) members of Post 629 (2) spouse, children, or descendant of Post 629 (3) US Veteran of Foreign Wars (4) spouse, children, or descendants of a veteran of foreign wars; renewal for a maximum of (8) eight semesters. Must meet criteria and making progress toward degree.
Vince Palmer Endowed Scholarship
Monongalia County resident; major: criminal justice; 2.5 GPA; American citizen; preference to deputy sheriff and/or immediate family; non-renewable.
Vincent & Catherine Sansalone Scholarship
Student majoring in Science or Mathematics; 3.0 GPA; renewable; preference may be given to students of Italian American heritage as long as the award is administered per the policies & procedures of the Foundation & the Financial Aid Office. Student may be required to submit a paper to the Foundation describing the influence of their heritage and culture in their life.
Virginia P. & Richard P. Wellock Music Endowed Scholarship
Major: music; academic performance; musical capabilities; financial need .
W. R. “Squibb” Wilson Athletic Endowed Scholarship
Men’s baseball team; must meet NCAA eligibility; financial need.
Wendell G. Hardway Award for Excellence in Teacher Education
Major: education and admitted to the Teacher’s Education Program; 3.5 GPA; 96 hours completed; West Virginia resident.
Wendell G. Hardway Distinguished Scholarship
West Virginia resident; 3.0 GPA; FSU student.
WesBanco Bank Fairmont, Inc. Endowed Scholarship Award
Preference shall be given to student from Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston or Taylor Counties of WV; 3.0 GPA; major: Business & Economics; full- time student; financial need.
WesBanco Business Graduate Degree Endowed Scholarship
Graduate of either Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston high school; preference to graduates of FSU but others may apply; college/university GPA of 3.0; financial need may be considered; scholarship is renewable; enrolled in the MBA program.
West Virginia Society of Washington, DC Book Scholarship Fund*
Incoming freshman; legal resident of WV or the child of a native West Virginian; financial need must be demonstrated by FAFSUA; selection will alternate annually male/female until a time when the fund can support two annual scholarships.
William & Doretha Clayton Barns Prize in History Award
Major history or social studies; 3.0 GPA; must have completed 24 hours of history.
William and Linda Ullom Music Education Scholarship /Nursing Scholarship in Memory of Susan Ullom Waronicki For Fine Arts
Student pursing a B. A. in Education with the comprehensive (K-12) Music Major in the School of Fine Arts; strong preference to resident of WV who demonstrates financial need and is making suitable academic progress; renewable up to four years but renewability is not guaranteed; for Nursing – Students may be actively pursuing the B.S. Degree in Nursing in the FSU School of Nursing; strong preference will be given to a resident of WV who demonstrates need and is making suitable academic progress; the scholarship can be renewable over the course of years up to four years, but any award in one year does not guarantee the award in succeeding years.

Demonstrated financial need; HS GPA of 2.0; Accounting major; renewable up to four years with a maximum 2.0 GPA (up to 2.5 if need be); It will be preferable but required that the recipient be a resident of the western portion of Green County, PA; Monongalia County, WV; or Marion County, WV.
