Technology Tool Training

These short (1 to 3 hours) classes cover software applications that will improve your productivity and assist you in your traditional and online class. Held in the Learning Technology Center, the classes are limited to 10 participants.

Camtasia Basics (2 hours)

Camtasia 5.0 is here! Camtasia 5.0 is a major upgrade from the previous version and features easy to use tools that lets you record, edit and produce high-quality, computer-based presentations. With this software, you can easily record your screen, Microsoft PowerPoint, multiple audio tracks, and webcam video to create compelling lecture videos and demonstrations from your desktop. Participants will get a licensed copy of Camtasia 5.0 installed on their office computers.

Studymate Class Server/Studymate Basics (2 hours)

New for the 2008-2009 school year! StudyMate Class Server is the ultimate study group where teachers and students create study materials in a collaborative, web-based environment. StudyMate lets you create ten Flash-based activities and games using three simple templates. The Flash activities can published directly into Vista. StudyMate will import items from MS Word files and publisher test banks, making it easy to create interesting, interactive activities from existing content. Best of all, you don’t have to know Flash programming or HTML to use StudyMate. Participants will get a licensed copy of Studymate installed on their office computers.

Respondus Basics (2 hours)

Learn how to use Respondus: a powerful tool for creating and managing assessments that can be published directly into Vista. Features include importing word-processed material already in use, multiple question types, embedding media in assessments and using publisher’s test banks.

Content Sources for Online Classes

Is your class boring? Spice up your online class with multimedia content freely available from web. We'll look at sites such as YouTube.com as sources for educational content and discuss the pros and cons of using them in your class.
