One of the seven goals of the University's Strategic Plan is to "develop, retain, and recruit high-quality people who contribute to a satisfying and productive work environment."  The Internal Professional Development (IPD) program exists for the express purpose of assisting employees of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College in meeting this goal.

By providing teaching and training opportunities, employees are able to achieve both professional and personal goals that enhance their job performance and increase their job success
