Updated information concerning agencies in need of volunteer assistance will appear on this site when it becomes available.

The Literacy Volunteers of Marion Co
601 Locust Ave.
Fairmont, WV 26554
304-366-6055
lvamarion@hotmail.com

The Literacy Volunteers of Marion Co., local United Way agency, is looking for individuals to share knowledge and skills with others. Both tutors and community course instructors are needed. Tutors complete a certification program through the Literacy Volunteers of America. After completing the tutor training, tutors are paired with a student. Tutors are asked meet with the student at least one time per week for at least one hour. Support staff and materials are both available to the tutor as well. Not sure you want to commit to a weekly tutoring session? How about volunteering as a community course instructor? Instructors teach a one-time community class at the Literacy Volunteer's office. Examples of prior classes include stained glass making, jewelry making courses, computer literacy courses, etc.
