ACT Test Preparation
High School Juniors and Seniors: don’t let the ACT test intimidate you! This course is designed to teach the reading, English, science, math and writing skills you will need to do well on your ACT test. Test-taking skills will be emphasized. Whether you are trying to achieve the PROMISE Scholarship, applying for competitive college programs, or to maximize your potential and opportunities – this course is a must!!!   Cost includes all books & materials.  First class session will include an exam, please bring #2 pencils and calculator.  Enrollment is limited and pre-registration is required.

Beginning Drawing for Kids
This class will introduce you to the basic elements of drawing while developing strong foundational skills to build upon.  We will explore contour, value, gesture, perspective and grid drawing.  Instructor: Morin

Multi-Genre Writing
This course is designed to expose beginning to intermediate writers to a number of writing styles and techniques.  Participants will explore the writing process from brainstorming to outlining, to writing and revision.  Feedback will be provided from both the course instructor as well as other participants.  Types of writing discussed include: poetry, short story, non-fiction, dialogue/scene-writing, character development and collaborative writing.  Learn effective writing techniques designed to keep the creative juices flowing while preventing the dreaded “writer’s block.”  You will also practice exercise designed to improve working with images and writing in metaphor.  (Ages 15 to Adult)  Instructor: Madia

Theatre Improvisation
This up-on-your-feet, interactive, and fun class is designed to introduce participants to a variety of improvisational theatre games.  Whether you want to be an actor or stand-up comic – even if you just want to learn fun theatre activities to entertain at parties or keep the kids amused – this class has something for everyone!  Participants will learn the basic rules of improve while trying different games and exercises designed to use the body, mind, and simple props and costumes to create, funny, engaging and well-structured stories, situations and scenes.  (Ages 13 – Adult)  Instructor: Madia

Guitar – Beginning

This is your opportunity to learn to play the guitar!  Join us for good times and great instruction as you practice beginning guitar chords and learn some popular songs.  Classes are designed as a fun introduction for aspiring guitar students of all ages.  Sign up with a friend for twice the fun.  Bring an acoustic guitar (and a pencil) to class.

Monologue & Scene Study

This in-depth workshop, students will learn techniques from a variety of theatrical schools of thought, while using the basic journalistic questions of Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How to break their monologues and scenes down for maximum audience effect.  Participants will have the opportunity to work on several monologues and scenes from the modern theatre.  Memorization is not required, although we will be sharing monologues and scenes with others in the class.  Whether you want to be an actor or just want to improve your public speaking, textual analysis and people skills, this class is designed to help you reach your goals!  (Ages 15 to Adult)  Instructor: Madia

Kids in the Kitchen (8 – 12 Years)
Does the next Emeril or Rachael Ray live with you?  Are you hearing “I’m bored,” and “There’s nothing to do,” followed by “I’m hungry?”  Well it’s time to get cooking.  Your child will learn basic kitchen fundamentals and will participate in preparing their own lunch.  Each child will receive their own chef’s hat and a culinary apron.  Pierpont C&TC’s Chefs and Culinary Arts students will supervise this fun-filled session.  Register early, this class always fills!

Cookie decorating is easy with this two-night course – where we will make, bake, and decorate the perfect sugar cookie.  Whether a favor for a bridal shower, treats for your children’s class, a bake sale, or beautiful holiday platters, decorative cookies are perfect for any occasion.  Join us and learn how to make cookies that are almost too good to eat.  Santa will definitely need a tall glass of milk after this course!
