Conversational Italian
How would you like to learn to speak a classical, romantic language?  This course is not structured around grammar, but places more emphasis on basic conversation.  Students will learn to develop an appreciation for Italian language and culture, particularly southern Italy where many of the Italians who have settled in north central West Virginia originated.nbsp;Join us for a good time and learn about our language heritage and ancestry.  All without tests or grades!

The Rider’s Edge – New Rider Course
A proven blend of classroom instruction and range riding, the Rider's Edge New Rider Course delivers the basics of motorcycle operation in Harley-Davidson style. You'll learn from devoted instructors certified by both the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® and Harley-Davidson to create a relaxed, supportive environment that fosters camaraderie and confidence. After passing written and riding skills evaluation, you'll receive an MSF RiderCourseSM Completion Card that may exempt you from the riding portion of the motorcycle license test, as well as possibly qualify you for discounts on insurance. But more than that, you'll begin a journey that lasts a lifetime. The New Rider Course includes the use of a Buell® Blast®.

Elder Care: Balancing Work and Family NEW!
The good news is that we are living longer!  So are our parents!  Studies show that more and more we parents are spending some of our later years living with, and in the care of, our adult children.  These can be both wonderful times, and stressful times, for all involved.  Communication with your employer is of utmost importance as you balance your responsibilities between caring for your loved one and your professional duties.  Come learn from the WV Representative of the National Family Caregivers Association, what you should know as you plan to care for, or be cared for by, a family member.  From finances, and work resources, to social implications and relationship considerations – you will leave a more informed and better prepared for the journey ahead.  All participates will also receive a comprehensive resource guide designed to help them through the process.

Guitar – Beginning
This is your opportunity to learn to play the guitar!  Join us for good times and great instruction as you practice beginning guitar chords and learn some popular songs.  Classes are designed as a fun introduction for aspiring guitar students of all ages.  Sign up with a friend for twice the fun.  Bring an acoustic guitar (and a pencil)to class.

Conversational Sign Language
Get started on your journey of conversing in Sign Language whether you are speaking with a deaf person, family member, student, or child. This 8 week class will start with basic signs and fingerspelling, while progressing to reach your goal: to have simple conversations with people who are deaf. Come have fun learning a whole new language.  This is a great class for adults or youth over 10, so sign up together!

Have you ever considered making the transition from playing music for fun to playing music for fun and money?  If you answered yes, then this course if for you.  Here we’ll break down what you need to know to get started into the Disc Jockey service industry as well as the Musical Entertainment industry.  This course will show how to start and market yourself as a DJ or a Musician.  Included in the course will be information on financial budgeting during startup, marketing tips, competitive shopping tips (for equipment), service pricing, tax related issues, licensing your business, honesty in the industry, and customer relations.  Learn how to sustain profitability (and your sanity) in a large and competitive business.  Plus, you’ll get plenty of tips along the way from a young, professional musician who has done it himself.

Fundamentals of Fly Fishing NEW!
Have you ever been awed or inspired by artistic and graceful techniques of a fly fishing master?  Well you no longer have to be intimidated by them, because we are going to teach you the tricks of the trade.  In 5 weeks you’re going to learn the basics from equipment and knot tying to casting and presentation.  Plus you’ll get all the tips and techniques so you’ll be ready to start reeling them in.  So come learn a new hobby that is sure to be exciting, challenging, relaxing, and definitely rewarding!  Equipment will be available for student use, but bring your own if you have it.

LEARN TO FLY!!!  -  FLIGHT TRAINING PROGRAM:
Pierpont Community & Technical College is pleased to announce that you can now learn to fly through our Community Education program.    This program is delivered at the NAEC (Benedum Airport), by the same instructors as our academic professional flight training. 

If you have dreamed of flying the skies, this is your chance!  Total cost for flight training will vary according to the level of certification the individual desires, the type of plane required for that certification, the type of instruction required for that certification, and the actual instruction time required.  There is a one-time registration fee of $100 per certification.  Certification levels available include:

Instrument Pilot Certification

Multi Engine Certification
