Fairmont State Community Music Program

The Community Music Program is designed for students of all ages who wish to study music. Courses include private lessons in voice, percussion, brass, piano, strings and woodwinds. Group classes are given in voice, percussion, piano and guitar. For information and course fees, please click on the Calendar and Registration link at the top right section of this page.

Private Music Lessons

Registration is from July 27 through September 15.  Inquiries accepted.  Call 366.3758 for information.  Lessons are given in all instruments including strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, guitar, piano, etc.  All styles are taught.  Information packets will be mailed.  Prospective students should give their address to the Community Music Office at the above number if applicable.  Partner lessons are available.  Ages 5 to adult accepted.  Formal registration is Saturday. August 27, from 10-12 in Room 304 of Wallman Hall for those who do not wish to register by mail.

Beginning Piano Class

Offered during the fall and spring terms for ages 6-8. These classis are exploratory in nature. The classes are held in the FSU Piano Lab, so students enrolled do not have to own a piano at home.  This class is a very good way to find out if your child will enjoy studying the piano privately later and just what the potential is for private lessons.  The class is basically introduction only and may or may not lead to further interests or study.  For information and course fees, please click on the Calendar and Registration link at the top right section of this page.

Piano Explorer Camp

Held annually in June. Includes beginning piano explorations, simple music notation, introduction to keyboard, music theory, guest artists, music games, etc. For ages 6 - 8 who have had no piano experience.
Held 9:30 - 11:30 AM daily for one week. Call 366-3758 - Nancy Bird, Camp Director or Natalie Buckley, Assistant.

Piano Camp

Held annually in June for ages 8 through high school, beginner to advanced. Students attending this camp must have had at least one year of piano study. Camp activities include theory, technique, repertoire, piano history, ensemble experience, practice procedures, guest artists, incentives for practice and study, rhythm, harmony, composing of music for piano etc. ..
Held 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM daily for one week.

Brass Camp

Held annually in June. Students in grades 9 - 12 accepted..On campus housing or commuters available.
Brass Ensemble performance, individual lessons, guest artists, evening activities are devoted to brass instruments. Brass concerts include a parent performance grand finale concert.
