NEW STUDENTS

If you have never attended any other educational institution (for example, vocational school or another college), you are a new student and must:

  • make formal application to Fairmont State and be admitted in a degree or certificate granting program.  Please note that high school graduates who took college credit while in high school must not be admitted on academic probation.
  • assure that the admissions office has received and reviewed your official high school grade transcripts, GED scores, or ability to benefit test scores, whichever is appropriate.
  • be at least a half time student (six to eight hours).  In some instances, a less than half time student may be eligible for a Pell Grant.
  • file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  If you are a West Virginia resident, you must also complete the Common Application at www.wvapply.org.
