THE LPN ARTICULATION PROGRAM

Licensed practical nurses who are admitted to the Associate Degree Nursing Program are eligible for the articulation process. The articulation process grants 14 nursing credit hours upon successful completion of Mastery of Adult Health 1106 and 1107 with a 20 hour clinical component in each course. The Nursing courses can be completed in 12 months with a one hour online transition course, NURS 1102, required the semester prior to beginning the nursing courses. Liberal Studies Requirements will not change and will need to be taken prior to and/or concurrently with nursing courses.

ARTICULATION PROCESS
  • In order to receive credit for N1101, the LPN appilicant must be admitted to the nursing program and
    • Have graduated from a program approved by the WV Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses or the National League for Nursing within the past three years and demonstrate proficiency in selected clinical nursing skills.

    • If the applicant has completed the LPN Program longer than three (3) years ago, they must:
      • Notify the Nursing Department of intent to challenge N1101.
      • Present LPN license at time of exam and pay exam fee in the FS Nursing Office.
      • Successfully complete a National Exam for N1101 credit by earning a minimum score of 75%.
      • Demonstrate proficiency in selected clinical nursing skills.
  • In order to receive credit for Food Service Management 1110 (FOSM 1110), Allied Health 1105, and Biology 1170, the LPN applicant must:
    • Arrange with the Program Director to take exam.
    • Pay exam fee in Nursing Office to order test(s).
    • Successfully pass the exams by achieving the established minimum score.
  • In order to receive credits for English 1104 and Psychology 1101 by Clep Examination cantact Fairmont State Center for Workforce Educaiton. Information about procedures for applying for examination is also available in the Student Affairs Office.
