FAIRMONT STATEÂ COUNTS
FAIRMONT STATE’S FREE MATH TUTORING PROGRAM
Fairmont State Counts is a free math tutoring program offered to students grades 5th thru 9th on the Fairmont State University campus. The program is sponsored by Fairmont State in conjunction with GEAR UP. It is structured to concentrate on specific math difficulties students are experiencing and to help with math homework.
Fairmont State Counts is supervised by Pam Kabulski, math teacher, Marion County and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum, Director, Community Service Learning, Fairmont State University.
Fairmont State University student tutors, proficient in math, aid children in developing their math skills. The tutors work with a maximum of four children per group. Mrs. Kabulski is present to assist each tutor and student. She reports, "The students benefit greatly from the small group instruction and support they receive from their tutors."
The one hour / once a week sessions are held for eight weeks, during the fall and spring semesters. Pre-registration is begun the first week of September for the fall sessions and the first week of February for the spring sessions.
Pre-registration is necessary for participation.
Once students are pre-registared, parents/guardians will be notified of locations of the sessions.
If you have questions, call 367-4579.
Students are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are limited slots available, so please register ASAP beginning on the dates stated above.
