Program Mission Statement
United Hospital Center, Inc. (UHC) offers a certificate program in Radiologic Technology for individuals interested in pursuing training in this field. The program is designed to prepare men and women for professsional practice in the health care specialty of Radiologic Technology.
Program Overview:
The training period is 24 months on begins in June of each year. In addition to formal classes and laboratory practice, clinical experience in Radiologic Technology is provided under the guidance of clinical instructors and Diagnostic Imaging staff technologists, all of whom are ARRT certified. The curriculum recommended by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists is followed. Upon completion of the program, the graduate is eligible for admission to the cerification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
An Associate of Applied Science degree is available at Pierpont Community and Technical College as an admission option for students entering UHC's School of Radiologic Technology. Those interested in admission can must submit an application to PC&TC.
Career Advancement Opportunities:
Radiologic Technology is a fast-growing, ever-changing occupation. Qualified graduates have an abundance of opportunities available to them. Specialized training is available in interventional procedures, diagnostic medical sonography, computed tomography, radiation oncology, nuclear imaging, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Graduates may also elect to complete degree programs and/or pursue careers in education, administration, marketing, or research.
