OVERVIEW OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT PROGRAM
The work environment has undergone drastic changes in the past few years. Among these changes is the role of the administrative support person in the workplace. This role has expanded into one that is broader in scope and requires more critical thinking, organizational, and decision-making abilities than ever before. Office automation and organizational restructuring have led administrative assistants to assume new and more responsibilities once reserved for mid-level management.
The administrative assistant must also be proficient in major computer applications found in suite software, such as word processing, desktop publishing, electronic presentations, spreadsheets, and database applications. The two-year Administrative Support program provides students with the updated skills and abilities that are expected of today’s office support personnel.
