Degree Definitions:
Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology is a two-year program that prepares graduates for careers as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified aircraft maintenance technicians employed by airlines; fixed base aircraft maintenances repair stations; aircraft component repair and overhaul facilities; and aircraft manufacturers. The Associate of Applied Science degree component represents the first two years of the 2+2 Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Maintenance Management.
This program is certified by the FAA in accordance with CFR Part 147 and is the only program of its type offered in West Virginia.
Associate of Applied Science in Airframe & Aerospace Electronics Maintenance Technology
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Airframe and Aerospace Electronics is a two year program that prepares graduates for a combined career as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Certified Avionics Maintenance Technician. Program technical core courses consists of eleven FAA Part 147 General and Airframe courses and eight FCC Aerospace Electronics based courses. Graduates of this program possess the mechanical skills and electronic knowledge required to inspect, service and maintain new generation “fly-by-wire glass cockpit” aircraft systems. Graduates of this program will receive an Associate in Applied Science degree in Airframe & Aerospace Electronics Maintenance Technology and a Federal Communication Commission (FCC) General Radio Telephone Repair Certificate. All graduates qualify to sit for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 147 General and Airframe Technician Certification Written and Oral and Practical Examinations.
