FAIRMONT STATE COLLEGE POLICIES & PROCEDURES

NO. 50

POLICY REGARDING DIRECT DEPOSIT OF PAYCHECKS

Effective July 1, 2001 April 30, 2002

All new Fairmont State College employees' paychecks will be processed via direct bank deposit. That is, all new employees will have their paycheck directly deposited in their chosen bank account. This will occur usually a day before payday. The money will be available to the employee on payday. The mandate will apply to all new full-time employees and all new and returning part-time, adjunct faculty and student employees, and those participating in a severance plan.

All other employees hired prior to February 1, 2000 will have their paychecks processed via direct bank deposit in their chosen bank account by July 1, 2002. All other employees hired prior to February 1, 2000, are not required to use direct bank deposit. However, if payday falls on a day when state government is open, but Fairmont State College is closed, (for example on a Friday during the summer four-day work week or on December 31 when the College is closed for the holiday break) checks and direct deposit notices will be handed out to all employees on the next workday.

NOTE: This is a proposed change in policy. New language is in italics. Language with strike through would be deleted.
