Intercollegiate Athletics

Fairmont State University is a member of the NCAA, Division II, and the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

  • Men - 7 varsity sports: Football, basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, tennis and swimming.
  • Women - 7 varsity sports: Tennis, golf, basketball, volleyball, swimming, softball and cross-country.

Activities & Organizations

  • Between the two institutions, there are more than 85 clubs, organizations, student publications, honoraries, sororities and fraternities
  • A wide range of intramural and club sports
  • The Falcon Center featuring 7,000 square feet of fitness equipment; five versatile courts for indoor sports; space for fitness classes; a four-lane pool with a whirlpool, sauna and outdoor sunning deck; a four-lane cushioned jogging/walking track; game rooms and more
  • Many Fine Arts performances and exhibits throughout the semester

Financial Aid & Scholarships

To apply for financial aid, submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) between January 1 and March 1. You can complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. FSU code: 003812

Falcon Scholarships are offered to eligible first-time freshmen. Submit an application for admission, transcripts and ACT/SAT scores prior to December 15 to be considered for these scholarships.

To apply for all other scholarships, submit the Scholarship Application to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office by Feb. 1. The application is available on the FSU web site or at the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

First-Time Freshmen

  1. Application for Admission
  2. Official high school transcript or GED (sent by high school or Department of Education) (2.0 GPA or higher)
  3. ACT or SAT Scores (18 ACT or 870 SAT)
  4. College Transcript(s) (if college credit was earned during high school)
  5. Immunization Records (see Admissions Checklist)

Transfers

  1. Application for Admission
  2. College Transcript(s) (from accredited institution(s); must have 2.0)
  3. Official high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores if there are fewer than 24 earned credit hours being transferred

GRADUATE PROGRAM

General Application Procedures

  1. Graduate Application
  2. A nonrefundable application fee of $40
  3. Scores from a graduate aptitude test such as the GRE
  4. Official Transcript from undergraduate institution

Deadlines
Admission is competitive. Applications are considered according to the following schedule:

  • May Admission - March 15 (application deadline)
  • August Admission - June 15 (application deadline)
  • January Admission - November 15 (application deadline)

Transfer of Graduate Credit
With approval, a student may transfer up to twelve graduate credit hours toward a completed degree. Apply using a Transfer of Credit Form available online.

Distinctions

Since 1997, two FSU faculty have been named West Virginia Faculty Merit Foundation Professor of the Year.

The FSU chemistry department places 100 percent of its students applying to top graduate programs.
