The Corporate University for Business & Individuals

Providing Solutions for Your Workforce Training Needs

Pierpont Community and Technical College of Fairmont State University has established an ACT Center at its Center for Workforce Education to provide state-of-the-art testing and training programs for area businesses, individuals and organizations.  The ACT Center provides a vast library of training programs and testing services using computers, the Internet and other technologies aimed at developing the skills of our local workforce in a convenient and cost-effective manner.  The ACT Center is designed to be a resource where area employees and employers can benefit from the latest training programs and methods.  Local residents can use the ACT Center to boost their skills and qualify for better jobs.  Employers can use the assessment and training programs to hire and develop employees, raising productivity, morale and profits.  The Pierpont C&TC ACT Center developed in conjunction with ACT, Inc., is a part of a nationwide network of centers, located primarily at community colleges and only one of four ACT Centers currently in the State of WV.

Full Service Testing and Training

Our full-service testing and training center offers an impressive array of programs to meet your needs. We offer just-in-time, just-enough training tailored to your needs. More than 95 percent of the ACT Center courses are web-based, so students can take them any time, anywhere if the student has access to appropriate technology.  In addition, the courses are designed so students can learn at their own pace, skipping concepts that they have already mastered and spending as much time as they need learning concepts that are difficult for them. Students have up to one year to complete a course, so they can return to it as often as necessary for review.

The ACT Center offers courses in seven major workforce development categories from some of today’s leading computer-based training providers.

  • Skill-specific training through more than 2,500 computer-based and Web-based courses developed by leading courseware providers.
  • Workplace skills assessments
  • Computer-delivered certification and licensure tests for the trades and professions
