Satisfactory student performance on the direct assessment measure will consist of:

1.  Develop therapeutic goals for respiratory therapy appropriate for patient care.

1) written examinations
2) oral presentations
3) media presentation
4) Internship case study
5) Triage/Care Plan patient evaluation sheet

 

1) score 75% or better
2) 75% or better on pre-assigned grading rubric
3) 75% or better on pre-assigned grading rubric
4) 75% or better on pre-assigned grading rubric
5) Completion of a minimum twenty (20) evaluations per adult clinical semester rotation and ten (10) evaluations during pediatric/neonatal clinical rotation. Total minimum = 70

2.  Perform patient care in a clinical setting in accordance with AARC(American Association of Respiratory Care) guidelines for patient care (GPCs).

1) Clinical competency lab check-offs
2) Performance evaluation rubrics
3) Clinical evaluations by preceptors

1) pass/fail, repeat until skill is performed correctly without prompting
2) score 75% or better
3) Score 3 or higher on a scale of 1-5 for Overall Grade
 3. Meet or exceed the minimum expectations of the NBRC certification examinations for a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

1) Comprehensive Written Registry Self-Assessment Exam administered through the NBRC        
2) Post-graduate scores   

1) Score 55% or better as determined by the National Board of Respiratory Care and the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care

2) greater than 80% pass rate on first attempt on CRT exam or greater than 50% pass rate on RRT exams.

 
 4. Demonstrate professional behavior in the field of respiratory care. 1) Clinical evaluations by preceptors
2) Internship Non-clinical Evaluation by preceptor
3) Community Service Project hours
4) Community Service Project evaluation
1) Score 3 or better on a scale of 1-5 for Professionalism Grade
2) 75% or better on pre-assigned grading rubric
3) Completion of a minimum 30 service hours prior to graduation.
4) 75% or better on pre-assigned grading rubric
