The institution-wide Assessment Committee is chaired by Chris Lavorata, Associate Provost for FSU, and Nancy Parks, Director of Assessment for PCTC. 

With representation from each department or school, as well as relevant support services, the committee's current charge is to support and encourage academic program faculty on campus as they: 

• develop annual programmatic assessment plans (by Dec. 3, 2007), to include
• 4-6 meaningful student learning outcomes at the program level
• Tools of direct measurement to be used to see if students have met the programmatic outcomes
• work to refine the plans and begin collecting assessment data (spring of 2008)

Assessment data and data-driven programmatic improvement steps will be key components of the 2012 institutional self-study for the Higher Learning Commission, so programs are asked to implement the Higher Learning Commission's four-step model for assessment plans (1.  define outcomes, 2.  select tools of direct measurement to assess outcomes, 3.  collect and analyze data, 4.  decide upon and implement changes/improvements based on the data.)  Additional resources are provided in the link at the right of this page.
