Making Fairmont State an Even Greater Place to Work

Falcon CenterDear Staff and Faculty:

As the semester comes to a close, I want to share three initiatives we are rolling out this summer to make Fairmont State University an Even Greater Place to Work:

Free Falcon Center Memberships

Starting May 13, employee and employee family memberships will be free! This includes free locker service. Employees with current memberships will not need to do anything. Employees without current memberships can enroll at the Falcon Center reception desk. You can read more about this initiative on the Falcon Center site.

Return of Trash Collection and Bags

Also starting May 13, individual trash will once again be collected and trash bags replenished once a week! Please refer to this schedule for more information. In addition, Facilities will be contacting each unit to retire any old metal office trash cans and distribute new plastic ones.

Free New York Times | All Access

In the coming weeks, faculty and staff (as well as students) will receive complimentary access to all digital offerings from The New York Times. This includes News, Games, Cooking, Wirecutter (real world testing and reviews), and The Athletic (in-depth sports coverage). You can learn more on the New York Times site. Be on the lookout for log-in details soon.

These initiatives were only possible due to the persistent efforts of your colleagues in the Falcon Center, Facilities, Information Technology, and Finance. Thanks to them, and to all of you, for helping make Fairmont State such a Great Place to Learn and to Call Home.

As I said in my inaugural address, “We cannot serve our students, our community, and the world of higher education if we do not have faculty and staff who feel they are valued.” So, as you enjoy these three initiatives, please remember that you and your work are greatly appreciated!

Sincerely, Mike
